 Handwork Center

Many Elderly are usefully employed in a variety of high standard handicraft workshops. Most work in the handicraft room at the Center, others start their work there and continue at home and those who are confined to their homes for personal reasons i.e. their own severe disabilities, or dependants who require their help, have work brought to them.
Group coordinators are concerned with the particular needs of each member and are aware of the importance and positive effect, both physical and mental, of handwork classes.

The Aims of the Handwork Center are:
1 Therapeutic activity.
2 Creative activity.
3 Physical Improvement.
4 Mental stimulation and coordination appropriate to individual physical problems.
5 An opportunity to meet other elderly in a working environment.
6 Positive employment of free time.
7 A feeling of satisfaction and creative achievement.
8 A feeling that a contribution can still be made to society.
9 Pleasure at seeing one's handwork sold in the Gift Shop, being worn or used.
10 Additional income.
