Clinics
Doctors, dentist, nurse, chiropodist, reflexologist.
The aims of the clinics are:
1-To maintain a constant follow-up of the chronically ill elderly, i.e. those with heart problems
diabetes and high blood pressure.
2-To allow weekly testing on the premises and minimize visits to the general clinics.
3-Once every few months a "health day" is organized when a general testing of blood pressure,
sugar levels, hearing tests and other specialized testing takes place in cooperation with Jerusalem hospitals.
4-To offer psychiatric and psychological treatment.
These sessions often discover chronic illnesses previously undiagnosed. Results are passed on to the relevant Health Funds.
In addition, complementary medical services such as acupuncture, chiropody, massage, "Reiki" treatment and holistic medicine are available.
The clinics are in an annex attached to the main building on the lower ground floor and contain three offices and a waiting room. A doctor or nurse is present daily.
1-The eye clinic operates once a week with an eye specialist or an optometrist.
2-A Dentist is present three times a week.
3-The services available include the provision and repair of prostheses at a nominal cost, though most of the Elderly now have well-fitting prostheses in contrast to the situation prevailing before the opening of our dental office on the premises. Eating and digestive problems, as a result of bad-fitting appliances or none at all, have largely been alleviated. Today, a volunteer dentist together with a volunteer dental nurse treats new cases of extractions, fillings and repairs. A minimal charge to cover technician's fees and dental materials makes treatment a viable option for all who are in need.
The convenience of clinics on the premises is a source of comfort and security to the many Elderly who spend time at Beit Frankforter. Hundreds are treated and tested throughout the year - numbers are seasonably variable. However, they do not replace the importance of the Health Clinics or personal doctors but act as a complementary service.
